The clinking of tiles and sweet sound of gossip are a deeply-rooted part of American-Jewish heritage. Mahjong is a challenging, tile-based strategy game that combines skill with luck, and must always include chit-chat and snacks. Players attempt to match a hand from scores of possibilities – and although winning a game is satisfying, ALMOST winning is sometimes just as much fun!

In this four-session class, Rabbi Stacy Bergman will teach the basics of playing American Mahjong (adapted from the Chinese game) and the focus will be on tile recognition, strategy, rules and having fun. No Mahjong experience is required and classes are open to everyone across gender and generations. All participants will receive their own official National Mah Jongg League card. Come nosh, chat and play together.

Classes will meet on January 15, January 22, January 29, and February 5. Please only sign up if you are able to attend all four classes.
