Led by Rachel Chang of A Queer Nigun Project and LUNAR Collective with Shira Kline, Spiritual Leader of Lab/Shul NYC, SongCircle is an invitation into the inclusive seasonal Sukkah space to raise our collective spirit together under the big sky as we enter into the new year. Come with a song! Come sing along! Come to sing with the breeze and harmonize with the trees. As singing is a listening practice as well, gentle instrument play is welcome and no musical experience is necessary! Bonus: Feel free to adorn yourself in shades of purple to contribute to this high vibe Sukkah art installation.

Rachel Chang (she/her) is a Jewish musician, songleader, and youth educator, as well as a music therapist, living in Philadelphia, PA. As a multi-instrumentalist, a deep listener, and a lover of harmony, Rachel uses music to cultivate connection and community. She has led music and prayer in a variety of communities, including at LUNAR, a collective and community of Asian Jews, and with children and families at Congregation Beit Simchat Torah in Manhattan, NY. She is also the director of A Queer Nigun Project, which uses nigunim as a collective healing practice for LGBTQIA+ people and incarcerated people in the Jewish community. As a queer and multiracial Chinese-American Jew, Rachel has spent years grappling with what it means to belong, to take up space, and to be heard in Jewish community, and she has found music to be an invaluable resource.

Shira Kline (she/her) is a queer performance and ritual artist, recognized as a revolutionary educator and named one of the new re-engineers of Jewish life today. She is a Co-founder of Lab/Shul NYC where she serves as Spiritual Leader weaving liturgy, story and song into immersive sanctuary theatre. Here to nourish and ignite expression of the spirit, Shira practices in the field of sacred play. She is a frequent guest faculty of numerous international leadership conferences and seminaries and has toured for the last two decades worldwide with a vibrant invitation to connect for a new and realized conscious world. Lab/Shul is an everybody friendly, G*D optional, artist-driven, experimental community for sacred Jewish gatherings. We can’t wait to welcome you here.
