Join us for Electric Mimouna–an evening of glam, beats, and bites featuring the music of Chanan Ben Simon and Guy Barash with holiday-inspired tastes from Chef Eli Buliskeria. From Marrakech to Jerusalem to Brooklyn, this celebration reclaims old musical treasures with a contemporary electronic twist, featuring costumes, glam, and joy!
Come celebrate Mimouna with us and fill yourself with good luck, prosperity and too many Mufletas. Tirvachu Vetisadu!
Live from The Moxy Hotel’s Jolene Sound Room Chanan Ben Simon (voice) and Guy Barash (electronics) will debut a new project of traditional Jewish-Morrocan songs with an electronic twist. These are songs that Ben Simon knows from childhood, but never attempted to perform himself. Now, they both delve into this ancient world, reconnecting with ancestors while creating a new, joyous show.
Join us for this musical and culinary program which will have you celebrating Mimouna (the Moroccan celebration of the end of Passover) in style with Chanan Ben Simon, Guy Barash, The Neighborhood: An Urban Center for Jewish Life, Sephardi Mizrahi Q Network, Kanisse, and The Moxy Hotel.
Ben Simon and Barash started a voice-and-electronics duo after meeting at The Neighborhood’s Artist Working Group for composers. They first collaborated on ‘YAKANTALISA’, a piece for voice and electronics based on texts by Hezy Leskli. Now they continue their journey with a new Jewish-Moroccan experience!
In addition to access to this musical Mimouna experience, your $36 ticket includes Moroccan bites especially for Mimouna and a drink ticket. Please note that food for this event will be vegetarian but not kosher certified.
