Join The Neighborhood, Lab/Shul, and B'nai Brooklyn for a welcoming, hands-on Passover celebration. Whether you’re a seasoned seder story-teller, or a first-time Passover player everyone is invited to roll up your sleeves and roll out some homemade crunchy matza. Your Passover celebration will never be the same again!

FamilyLab is centered around the family table: delicious dinner, sing along, stories, and animated interactive learning to celebrate holidays and delve into life-long Jewish values.

Spiritual Leader Shira Kline along with teaching artist Emet (Ari L. Monts) and Steve Guedalia gather us for the tastes, sounds, and feels of Passover.

With Lab/Shul’s unique God-optional approach to tradition, text, and story, FamilyLab is open to those who identify as Jewish, Jew-ish, and everything in between. Fees include dinner and programming for up to 5 people.

Shira Kline

Shira Kline (she/her) is a ritual and performance artist, recognized as a revolutionary
educator and named one of the new re-engineers of Jewish life today. Known in the sanctuary as a spiritual adventurist and on the kiddie rock stage as ShirLaLa, she
practices in the field of sacred play. As an artist educator and a proud recipient of the prestigious Covenant Award 2024, Shira weaves liturgy, story and song into immersive sacred theatre. She tours extensively locally and globally with a vibrant invitation to connect, for a new and realized conscious world. She has been featured on NPR, hosted a queer Jewish podcast, led Shabbat on the Burning Man playa, recorded four award-winning albums, and is a frequent guest faculty of numerous international leadership conferences including Hava NaShira, SLBC, PJ Library, and in the HUC-JIR
Seminary and the Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music. Shira is a member of the Mitsui Collective, cultivating pathways towards Jewish embodiment.. Expansive and imaginative, Shira is here to nourish and ignite expression of the spirit. At home in Brooklyn, unceded Lenape lands, she lives to cook, dance, and play with her beloved and their daughter. Co-founder of Lab/Shul in NYC, she serves as Spiritual Leader of this artist-driven, God-optional, experimental community for sacred Jewish gathering.

Ari L. Monts

Ari L. Monts/Emet is the co-roshei yeshiva of Yeshivat Gadol v’Kadosh. A Brooklyn-based writer/scholar/zine maker/ritualist/ba’al tefilah/organizer/Jewish educator, Ari’s work engages with participatory rituals and affect, rigorous playfulness, pleasure, participation, and access. Emet is a Storahtelling-trained artist, a SVARA Teaching Kollel (Cohort 5) Fellow, and a 2021 ALEPH Kesher Fellow. They can talk non-stop about the powerful work of learning in chevruta, memes, the book they half-read last year, and their cats, Anya and Alexei.
