Come join for the first of our new series in collaboration with Brooklyn Comedy Collective. Comedian and playwright Reid Pope hosts an array of their favorite “bad Jews” in an evening of jokes and nosh, featuring comedians Michael Abber, Marcia Belsky, Myq Kaplan, and Carson Olshansky. Unkosher Comedy serves as a convenient excuse to tell your nagging family that you celebrated Shabbat, all while having a drink in your hand, enjoying a nice dinner and laughing at some seriously funny Jewish stand-up.
The Brooklyn Comedy Collective (BCC) is an alt comedy theater and school in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn with a mission to produce irreverent, fearless shows from a wide range of voices, pay its artists, and inspire students to approach performance from a place of joy and fierceness.
Reid Pope is a stand-up comedian, playwright, and Jew (despite the ironic last name) who’s been featured in PAPER, Vulture, and Boys With Plants Magazine. They serve as the Head Writer and Executive Producer of Late Stage Live: a trans-led monthly late night comedy news show on Brooklyn public access [read about it in Them and Jezebel].Jeremy O. Harris recently shortlisted Reid’s play amino amino amino amino amino amino amino amino amino for the 2024 Yale Drama Prize. Reid’s play Holocaust Lit! was selected for Fault Line Theatre’s “Irons In The Fire” (2024) and their play Cuntboy & Dickgirl (or: Biology Play) received the Parity Productions Award. Reid’s TV project Old Queens won the 2023 ATX TV Festival Pitch Competition. In 2022, they were named a New York Comedy Festival Content Creator To Watch.
